The Fabric of Our Lives

Did you know that, in addition to lovely products you can't live without, you can purchase every fabric or wallcovering known to man through us as well?

Do you know the ubiquitous "to the trade" phrase often applied to the items you like best in home decor mags? That's us--"the trade."

Come by the shop to see a sampling of fabrics we are currently loving, and discuss your colors/style/upholstery or project needs to enlist our help in finding exactly the right material for your application.

We love finding vintage pieces that simply need a little work--a bit of lacquer here, some fabric there--to be transformed into a room's crowning glory. Let us help with your latest find, or ask us to scout pieces on your behalf... we'd love to!

Additionally, we are excited to offer hourly design services to help with anything from color consultation to furniture selection to custom drapery fabrication to whatever you can dream up. Drop us a line or stop by the store for more information.

What's New

It's that time again, time for us to give a shout out to our favorite new items at the shop. Here's what we're currently excited about:

Bold, colorful new baubles from the singular costume jeweler Kenneth Jay Lane...we've got incredible rings, chunky necklaces, glam cuffs. Truly beautiful pieces await you, so get 'em while you can. Our last shipment sold out in no-time flat.

We also have a number of new side table options, including this mirror-topped model sporting legs incorporating--yep, you guessed it--a greek key motif. Have we mentioned that we're fans? I thought so.

And though we have seen these around here and there, we are still excited about these clever elephant side tables, perfectly sized to hold your favorite cocktail while you lounge in a decadent wing chair, entertaining yourself with the latest political debate--not hard to do, these days.

We also have back in stock a few popular table/stool options, including this perennial favorite from Shine Home, available in a number of different colors.

Also back are the upholstered X-base stools, available in white or black faux croc, as well as faux python. (We've got the white and python currently in stock.)

Check out this incredible adjustable counterbalance brass and fabric pendant:

This vintage hall mirror and bench pair is such a wonderful scale but packs in a huge amount of glamour... we love the idea of using it in a dressing room, or in a space to create the illusion of a dressing room.

Also new to or back in stock at the shop:

Red lacquer mirrors in rectangular and square styles, to be used alone or together to create a dramatic installment.
More stag heads, in three different sizes. We thought they had run their course, but customers continue to request them, so we continue to oblige.

A pair of beautiful vintage cocktail tables procured at an East Coast auction, with handpainted Asian scenes on the lower shelf and aged mirror tops. Photos can't do these justice...they are truly lovely and a wonderful scale to fit in most any setting.

More colorful ceramics from PTMD, the perfect holiday or housewarming gift.

As always, there is more than we have the energy to share, so come by soon to see it all in person.

The Domino Book of Decorating...

...is currently in my hot little hands, and the rumors are true: it is indeed *fabulous*! Now I may be able to recycle the hundreds of tear sheets I've been hoarding since the magazine's inception, because--and I am not exaggerating here--almost all of them seem to be represented in this book.

Not only is the book itself wonderful, but you get a free one-year subscription with the purchase of the book...

AND it has a chinoiserie-esque cover!

What more could one ever want from a book? I can think of a few other things, but I don't know any books that could do them.

Come in and ask for a super-secret copy. The official publication date isn't until October, but I'm willing to make an exception, just for you.

Mazel Tov!

We caught this wonderful news in a recent New York Times mention. We are fans of both fellows, and carry products from each, and wish them all the best.

Read more about it here.

Upholstered Bliss

Our pals at MetroSofa are up to their old tricks again, changing it up a bit to produce more subdued and elegant yet incredibly stylish and fresh reincarnations of vintage pieces.

Check out the following new (old!) items, all of which you can purchase through us.

Call us or drop us a line to get more information about any of these lovely pieces. I want them all!

The above is actually a *pair* of sofas that combine to make one large piece. Too cool.

New Items

It's that time again, time to spread the word about the new items we're loving, such as this fabulous pair of vintage gilded side chairs with a suede-like reptile-print fabric from our friends at MetroSofa AND

...this stunning 10-1/2' long dining table handcrafted in Belgium from weathered pine AND

...this oversized vintage wing chair (affectionately known around here as the "Alice in Wonderland" chair), also from MetroSofa AND

...these super-cool gilded "stump" tables/stools AND

...this elegant slipcovered sofa imported from France, in the manner of designer Axel Vervoordt--alternate slipcover colors are available as well--AND

...this set of four vintage botanical bookplates in crisp white custom frames AND

...an old foundry mold-turned-mirror AND

...these elegant yet unusual "mad scientist" table lamps--the detail is a little hard to make out in front of all going on in the background, but trust us, they are super-cool.

We also have a crazy back-stock of vintage chairs and ottomans in our "project room," so if you're in the market for some customized items, inquire at the shop and we'll work with you to create chairs or a stool to perfectly accent your space.

Oh-h-h, Domino

Mark your calendars... Saturday, October 18, we are celebrating big-time. Firstly, we're marking the publication of the first-ever decorating book from our favorite magazine, "Domino." We'll have dozens of copies of the book on hand for purchase, and we're cooking up some sort of fabulous giveaway to commemorate the event.

Secondly, and--in our little world, more importantly--we are rejoicing in our inclusion in said favorite magazine's forthcoming Seattle shopping guide, penned by the lovely Rita Konig, whom we had the pleasure of spending a day with a few months ago. The guide will appear in the November issue, but we're working on getting a stack of advanced copies to distribute at the soiree.

Good food? Check. Good music? Check. Fawncy alcoholic beverages? Check. Amazing items for you and yours, for holiday or every day? Check.

Hold the date, and we'll keep you posted on all the details. Stay tuned...
