Holiday Hours, Come Snow or High Water

Here in Seattle, the snow has thrown holiday shopping plans for a loop.

But we decided, if you're game, so are we. That's why we're planning to be open every day until Christmas, with extended hours, snow or no.

Here's the skinny:

Sunday, 12/21: 12-5
Monday, 12/22: 11-7
Tuesday, 12/23: 11-7
Wednesday, 12/24 (Christmas Eve): 11-7
Thursday, 12/25 (Christmas): CLOSED
Friday, 12/26: 11-5 (and a return to normal business hours)

Lose the cabin fever and come do some shopping! See you then.

Words to Give By

Sometimes I wonder if the shop is merely a front for me to buy all the things I love but can't afford to keep. Design books are one of my weaknesses, and I've collected a batch of my current favorites--all of which, conveniently enough, are for sale at Revival Home & Garden. Coincidence?

Surprise your favorite design aficionado with one of these under the tree and you're guaranteed to be rewarded with a gigantic smile.

1. Tony Duquette

Not a new book, but my favorite design book of all time. Hands down, one of the most inspiring designers of all time. I LOVE THIS BOOK!

2. High Style

A glossy, glam effort from the masters of glossy and glam, L.A.'s Ron Woodson and Jaime Rummerfield. Another one of my favorites, this is filled with colorful, over-the-top vignettes from the pair's fabulous California shop, as well as some of their memorable design projects that include the home of former Seattleite Courtney Love.

As an added bonus, the book is beautifully made, with a gilded fabric cover. Never hurts.

3. Celerie Kemble: To Your Taste

Another of my favorite of the new crop of design books....highly readable, great projects influenced by the current Regency madness but all with a timeless underpinning, and informative to boot. After reading it, Ms. Kemble rose a few notches to the upper heights of my favorite designer list.

4. Defining Luxury

Fabulous eye candy.... I want to move into that room on the cover every time I look at it.

5. Inspired Styles

A great premise, this is a compilation of favorite rooms by loads of current top designers including Kelly Wearstler, Michael S. Smith, and more.

6. Regency Redux

An exploration of the hot hot hot Regency style from a historical perspective, written by one of the leading experts on the period (who also has a great new blog, BTW)

7. The New Traditional

A wonderful first book from the new master of cool, serene interiors (and former lawyer!) Darryl Carter.

8. Charlotte Moss: A Flair for Living

A beautiful book from tastemaker extraordinaire Charlotte Moss.

That's Amore

In a strange but delightful turn of events, we were featured in the November issue of Italian Architectural Digest (not sure whether to punctuate that with a "! "or a "?").

If there are any fluent Italian speakers out there (yes, I am talking especially to you young, handsome male Italian speakers), take a look and let me know what it says.... All I've gleaned is ITALIAN ITALIAN ITALIAN ITALIAN "Leah Ball Steen" ITALIAN ITALIAN ITALIAN "Hollywood Regency" ITALIAN ITALIAN ITALIAN "Seattle."

And if previously mentioned young, handsome male Italians could send a recent photo along with their translations, that would be swell.

More in Store

In addition to stocking up on stocking stuffers, we've been stockpiling more vintage pieces for your consideration. (I've officially exhausted my stock of "stock" phrases!)

Our current favorite? A pair of vintage nightstands with "bamboo" detail and awe-inspiring new orange lacquer finish. My favorite detail? A "breadboard" pullout for all your nighttime necessities.

Vintage resin Buddha lamp with stunning custom pagoda white linen shade.

Coral wall mirror with gold detailing....Dorothy Draper would be proud.

Pair of vintage lemon-yellow crackled-finish ginger jar lamps with new custom black linen shades. The picture doesn't do justice to the intensity of the color...snap these up fast before they mysteriously migrate to my living room.

And though not vintage, we have a few new items that could fool the untrained eye:

Pair of brass sconces with crystal chain (which can be removed if you hate) and...

A pair of these charming gilded stools with cranberry silk cushions.

New or old, we've got you covered.

Window Dressing

I couldn't be more excited about our lovely new holiday window, featuring a few of my favorite fabric lines and products from the shop--fabrics from Rubie Green & F. Schumacher, and chairs from MetroSofa and a customized piece from Martha Stewart's line for Bernhardt.

Special thanks to stylist extraordinaire Hope Misterek for her eye and muscle. (Side note: the blatant rip-off of House Beautiful's recent cover --i.e., the paper bells--was all me.)

Come by and check it out in person!

Crack Ups

Thanks to DailyCandy for the love thrown Humpty & Eggberta's way. These little beauties are handmade by hipster L.A. designer Helene Ige and her mom (how cute is that?) and come in two different sizes. I defy anyone not to utter some sort of high-pitched squeal or at least an "Awww..." upon seeing them.

The perfect gift for your favorite egghead. (Sorry.)

Mention you saw them here and we'll give you 20% off to thank you for humoring our bad puns.
