"Project Runway" Comes to Georgetown!

While I don't have cable at home due to a serious TV addiction shared by my husband, thankfully a customer whispered to me over the counter that the fellow managing the informal photo session at the shop today was no other than Blayne of "Project Runway"! I haven't seen the show but, not living under a rock, do know what it's all about.

Blayne came in that morning and told me he was a fashion designer looking for a spot to shoot some photos later in the day, so I was happy to oblige. Little did I know I was in the midst of reality TV stardom.

Blayne, best of luck to you. Don't forget to mention us on the next episode.... We'll be watching for our red vintage sofa.

The Things We Carried

While our Web site is under construction (we're working on it, we promise), I thought I'd post a partial list of the lines we carry, all of which we can order from for you at any time. Check them out online below:

* Jonathan Adler: www.jonathanadler.com

* Arteriors Home: www.arteriorshome.com

* Shine Home: www.shineeveryday.com

* Bungalow 5: www.bungalow5.com

* Red Egg: www.redegg.com

* Worlds Away: worlds-away.com

* House Eclectic: www.houseeclectic.com

* MetroSofa: www.metrosofa.com

* Oly Studio: www.olystudio.com

* Dash & Albert: www.dashandalbert.com

* Thomas Paul: www.thomaspaul.com

There are many more lines we buy from, but these are our biggies, and many of our favorites. At the very least, all of the sites are fun to surf for inspiration.

Garden Pruning

...or, as they say in the retail biz, a SALE.

After much soul-searching, we've come to terms with the fact that we're just not as motivated by gardening as we are to-die-for decor items, so we are winnowing out our garden section to make room for expanded furniture offerings, including a forthcoming bedding section. We'll still carry select garden-related items, but only those things we just can't live without and think you shouldn't either...translation: no more pruners or watering cans.

Starting this Saturday, August 30, most of our gardening items will be on sale for 25% off original prices to make way for new furnishings and accessories... Now's your chance to snap up fabulous garden design books, stylish Hable Construction gardening hats and gloves, colorful pots and more, all for a great price.

The sale will run through the following week, ending Sunday, September 7. First come, first serve.

Press On

Not to sound tiresome, but we are excited to be featured in another wonderful local press medium; we're in this month's just-released "Top Docs" issue of "Seattle" magazine in both an editorial feature on the store:

http://www.seattlemag.com/ME2/Audiences/dirmod.asp?sid=&nm=&type=Publishing&mod=Publications%3A%3AArticle&mid=3E1DA341B2834604B64A1EB3BA74CCFB&tier=4&id=3F5951D512224805A13934A08887466D&AudID=42BFF54AF0444B8F92E1C3E1A324650E

AND in the big fashion spread as well. A number of our products appear prominently in the feature, including our yellow MetroSofa Louis chairs, yellow accent table from Shine, high-back metal iron chair, and other favorites, alongside a creepy barn owl (!). I can't find the story online, but go pick up the magazine and check it out.

Retail Therapy

After such a long absence in posting, clearly we needed a little therapy to get us back on the straight and narrow...and we got it a few weeks ago, courtesy of our friends at Apartment Therapy. They paid us a visit recently and wrote about it here:
